WAAHH THE ANGST THESE TWO GIVE ARE ASTRONOMICALLY GORGEOUS
(honestly, I need to catch up because the kr fandom is brutal with their spoilers and I'm not okay)
...maybe I'm just a little judgemental towards casey because I believe she's already had her chance to choose between what's "good" and "doing what's right."— a great example would be her denial when judging moriarty as a character (before the whole memory spiel); as a detective, she failed to comprehend to search for the bigger picture and focused solely on getting answers out of moriarty (understandable, she's human after all and just couldn't believe someone close to her would do such a thing) and didn't bother to tell people off when they'd hailed her as their saviour for "killing" him, especially when she already had her own doubts of being saved by him (as mentioned). She was so fixated on wanting to know what went wrong that she forgot to do the one thing she was passionate about— dig deeper, which again, is proven to be incredibly difficult with how witty and sly moriarty is. also how literally no evidence was left behind after the crime scene crumbled and got buried.
on another note, I personally like to think that casey didn't reveal his return to the public solely because she's already seen how his existence turned a kingdom upside down. not to mention, kunst auction house happened before the memory arc, so it's safe to assume that she still stood with her side of justice— especially with the whole, "I'll arrest you" thing.
opinion wise? casey is a well built character, but she lacks real and emotional responses to certain situations, while having completely logical ones in others (in terms of her character at least)— especially with the whole marriage arc; I know rudger probably doesn't care that she tried to kill him— but she did nonetheless, and I'd say that's pretty worthy for never wanting to show your face to someone again (especially if you believe what they did is right— post memory arc). She's trying to make amends but rudger clearly doesn't want the end of it, which is why I prefer the whole executioner idea thing— she's going to have to realise he's wrong (by law) eventually, whether or not he's saving people. (another interesting divergence that we could potentially see is casey siding with him over the “law” she swore to abide— grr, come on sayren, bring back my girl)
as for the acts of murder— she wouldn't have felt pity if she believed what he was doing was the right thing. rudger constantly takes up the role of being an executioner for people who he believes (and rightfully so) deserves it.
this discussion did make me realise that casey is no different, considering the fact she was so god damn ready to put an end to moriarty.
which correlates with the whole "bird cage" god thing— we've been told (as of the time this was posted) that rudger wants this barrier gone, and we (the readers) were told that the barrier in a sense was lumensis trying to control the development of humans; but I don't see why sayren would use such powerful language just to imply that he was trying to save all of humanity. looking at everything rudger's been through, it's starting to seem like he wants to destroy the gods and the world they've created, instead of lumensis alone.
then again, this is another thing that befuddles me— who is the antagonist of his story? does he even have one with all the possible endings that we've been predicting for? there's casey, surna, the heretic god, lumensis, the church of lumensis and there's even the possibility of himself. (credits to @/stonespears because *chef kiss* that idea of him just formatting his og life like a phone is 🤌🤌)(edit: the gist of this idea is that he returns to his og world with no memory of what happened)— honestly speaking though, although casey's one of the characters with the most screen time, I can't really see how she'd play a part in the life rudger has set out, especially when we already have characters with lesser screen time but a major role for suspense etc (grander, surna, rene). not jinxing this because I beg you sayren, don't offscreen my watergirl.
++also your annoyance is very relatable— especially as an mtl reader, I must say some comments on chapters make me want to pull my hair out/lh
(please keep talking to me, I love these kinds of conversations jebdkndksndnd :dies:— also, I sometimes get the feeling I'm not saying what I'm thinking, so I'm a little sorry for that jahaha,, )
+++ and omg thank you for rambling this much with me, you have no idea how much I appreciate it.
(≧▽≦)/♡
this entire conversation makes me want to start a discussion about machiavelli—because rudger babe, taking that name after pulling everything as moriarty was not a good idea; especially with the whole, "killing for a reason is killing nonetheless" idea (from the irl Machiavelli).
on casey selmore & ludger cherish:
the more i read into the novel, the more i wanna scream at the manhwa for missing out the context for caseys grievance over moriarty/ludger, and thus making the readers think she is annoying for it. despite their rivalry/bickering before moriarty was deep into the things™️, considering caseys personality, she still prolly saw moriarty as her best friend (or someone who gets her the most). and if my best friend suddenly changed 180° and became a notorious villain, yet still trying to save me when we were supposed to be nemesis, i as someone whose whole career is pursuing the truth would also wanna chase them into the end of earth and make them confess their reasons. ludger's assessment of casey obsessively chasing him out of her pride may contain a part of truth, but i find it unfair to say that's her whole deal. (if you are familiar with ace attorney, i dont think its incorrect to say their relationship after falling out is similar to phoenix wright and miles edgeworth after DL-6.)
spoilers for 268+: i personally dont think casey was at fault for falling for moriartys bit when for his whole life lying is his whole expertise and the gods also bless him with auto crits on deception.
spoilers for 356+: i do hate that casey was the one who ended up apologizing when between the two, ludger was clearly in the wrong. i suppose at the time it made sense since casey needed ludgers forgiveness for closure and full mental recovery, so i wont dwell much on this.
spoilers for 497+: since ch268, casey was the only one actively trying to mend their relationship while it became clear and clearer in ch497 that ludger was the one actively pushing her away. i think after the moriartys bit, ludger ended up seeing himself as someone who is irredeemable and one day poetic justice will become his downfall. based on ludgers past behaviors during their reichenbachs falls and now his last convo with casey, he seems to be building casey up to be his executioner. i dont wanna say this is end game foreshadowing or ludgers death flag but fuck if thinking about it doesnt make me screaming crying throwing up eating drywall.

It’s really funny to me how often I see people bemoaning the “short series” (10 episodes) thing with streaming.
Like…I grew up on British and Aus tv. Aside from soaps, tv shows are rarely longer than 10 eps a series
I personally much prefer a short series with a contained story and fleshed out characters than 24 episodes of largely standalone stories with small connections and details that often get forgotten seasons later. Often (not always) I find this format of TV has LESS overall character development for the sake of longevity

I am having THOUGHTS about the new BBC Ghosts trailer.
#ABBA!!!!#but like how does Cap know about ABBA hello⁉️#hold on a new theory just spawned let me do the math#nvm I wasted so much time researching for thag theory but I realised it doesn’t make sense#ffs#anyway#KITTY LORE I KNEW IT#alive Humphrey????????#(unless he just got his ghost body back)#god he’s so silly I love him#Cap lore Cap lore Cap lore#I KNEW this season would be Kitty and Cap lore but I’m still doubly excited now#that was definitely someone moving on right#it looks like a flashback episode to me. and is that the library bc.. isn’t that where Cap is theorised to have died#(sorry if I’m wrong I haven’t interacted with this fandom for a bit lmao)#so maybe there’s some lore there ??#unless it IS a major ghost and they only put the oldest ghost watching in the trailer so we could speculate#though that doesn’t sound right. so yeah I’m going with it being a flashback#unless Barclay dies. not writing that off completely.#I KNOW the ‘‘I’m going to be sick’’ line is going to tie into Kitty’s backstory. bc other ghosts can’t do that#she died of some sort of illness or (most likely) poisoning I’ve been SAYING this#I bet anything Alison is gonna be like wtf why can you do that and then a flashback scene will start from there#trust#that clock scene at the end seems super dramatic but I bet it’s not#like they look like they’re expecting something to happen and I bet it just. won’t.#or I’m totally off base and it actually is important#bbc ghosts#bbc ghosts season 5#bbc ghosts trailer#patto the space phrog

it's been years and it's still genuinely crazy to me that the first two seasons of stranger things had this throughline where all the bad things that were happening in hawkins were directly caused by the us government and that they were excusing the awful things they were doing to their own citizens (children!) through cold war/red scare reactionism. and then in season three there was a secret russian base under the town mall.

I feel like initially most people were on the same page about Tommy Kinnard, they were like ok let's see where it goes and we got Bi Buck!! Like, in April, I was on top of the world bc of Bi Buck, and I was so excited for him and eager to see where it goes, even the ones who didn't want him for Buck from the start were indifferent to him.
But I feel like the divide and the ship wars intensified was when people started using the "healthy male friendship" and "why can't two men just be friends" argument against Buddie, we have hundreds, if not thousands of those in pop culture and homophobes often use this argument against lgbt rep, so to see a group, some if not most of which are queer themselves use the same argument is off putting.
Then, whether you're his fan or a hater, you gotta agree that Tommy's character is a blank slate, he's not been given much to do, besides a few moments, and a significant part of that is him being racist and sexist to two fan favourite characters: Chim and Hen respectively (similarly people disliked Taylor for what she did to Bobby, the redemption and forgiveness before she started dating Buck was implied but it's not enough). Other than that he doesn't have a lot of qualities. And what happens is fans project a lot of things on him. What made me abandon the Tevan ship was people "stealing" Eddie's character traits and projecting it onto Tommy, while labelling him a terrible mentally insane father who uses Buck for his own gain, yada yada yada. And I love Buck and Eddie equally, so to me that was irritating.
Also, since he doesn't have many character traits, his lines, which are intended as sassy can come off as him being a dismissive and condescending dick.
Then for the off screen side of things, we were constantly told Buck is straight, by the actors and the showrunner but everyone was like eh whatever, and then our headcannons were proven right, but suddenly theorising about Eddie and that a lot of queer people including myself identify with him is looked down on if not straight up mocked, and that the canon storylines are the only ones that matter have made the fandom a bit toxic.
Buddies are often accused of blindly hating on Tommy, that he's hated only bc he's not the guy we wanted Buck to kiss, so I feel like I should lay it out as to why a lot of us went from being indifferent or open to the guy to straight up hating him.

Bylers, we need to talk about something…
I’ve been having a lot of thoughts pertaining to what will happen in season 5 relating to byler recently, as have we all, but I’ve also been wondering about the audience’s reaction to it if it happens.
Actually, i’ve been more concerned not about the GA’s reaction, but our reaction to how they handle it. I just want to say beforehand, that I might be projecting my issues with negativity and conflict (i’m a very very optimistic person it’s rough being on social media these days lmao) and I also very much believe that they will make byler canon in some way or another. It just makes sense with the narrative. But I fear we will never be happy with how they do it and we never learn from our previous mistakes lmao
Before season 4 came out, I sort of was a fan of byler, but i was very very casual, as in I didn’t interact with many fan theories, I wasn’t on twitter (still not on there because I have a phobia of negativity eek) and I wasn’t on tumblr, I would occasionally check out the edits and fanarts and I think I was just Aware of it, because I always root for the gay ship to happen ofc..
So when season 4 vol. 1 came out I was excited about the direction they were taking byler, and I could see that it was finally canon that Will was gay, rather than theorised. When season 4 vol. 2 came out, I had not been on sttwt or st tumblr during the time between the volumes because I had other fandoms prioritised around the time. I watched the Van Scene with my parents and suddenly I was acutely aware of just how gay they were (because I always get scared of watching anything queercoded around my parents lmao).
By the end of season 4, I was like YES! this season was amazing for a byler set up next season, although i was more focused on other characters too. I then kind of saw the byler script stuff but not the full extent of it, and I saw many edits and fanarts of them but that was it!
Now it’s 2024 and I have a major hyperfixation on byler, (due to the season 5 bts and the fact stranger things keeps popping up on my fyp it’s crazy) and now I’m on byler tumblr (not twt tho .. sorry) to find all the evidence I can and get all hyped up for s5! But I’ve also seen old posts from around 2022…
Literally every single one was extremely disappointed from season 4 vol. 2, and I was confused, seeing as I was very happy with it and I liked byler (my fave byler scene is from vol. 2 and no it’s not the van scene). If I’m being totally honest, and I might get some hate for this, I think we all had wildly, wildly high expectations and the disappointment was our own doing.
I personally never really judge a show before it’s finished (obviously not sitcoms and shows like that) unless it has really really terrible writing ofc, but I always choose to reserve judgement until all the character arcs are wrapped up and I can look back and see why things were made to be.
I understand the whole anger with Mike’s behaviour towards Will and how Will was treated poorly by him, but isn’t that the point? Mike loving Will back in season 5 would then be more satisfying after all that. It’s a set-up for the next season, no?
I don’t know why or how people thought that Mike would suddenly resolve all his internalised homophobia or something during that season, and I reckon if the whole season had come out at once instead of two volumes (i hate the two volumes thing sm omg) people would have been much happier because we wouldn’t have had time to create insane theories or unrealistic expectations that, let’s be real, were not in line with what we have seen so far with byler.
So, I just want to say that I’m a little afraid for season 5, because I know that byler will likely be canon, but people just won’t be happy because it won’t be in the exact way that they had theorised. Sorry to break it to you, but you, random person on tumblr, are not a screen writer. More specifically, you’re not a screen writer for stranger things.
I think it’s fun to theorise at the moment, but I just want to remind people that this pattern has happened before and we never learn? Like, none of our theories are coming true. Not one of them. Did I theorise the exact van scene? Did I theorise the part at the end where Mike grabs Will’s shoulder? No. But am I happy with those scenes? Hell yeah.
So on the build up to season 5, I just want to caution everyone to not assume that specific things are going to happen when it’s just a result of an echochamber (such as the milkvan breakup scene being right at the beginning or the painting being brought up). You’ll just be angry for no good reason.
The only reasons I’m personally going to be angry with how they handle byler is:
1. If it’s not canon and Will’s love goes unrequited/ he has another love interest somehow…
2. If either of them die after having a relationship during season 5 (bury your gays is stUPID)
3. If one of them dies before the other gets to tell them they love them/ kiss
4. If they get together without Mike apologising (it could be in literally any way, obvious or not) for his poor behaviour.
But that’s it, the rest of it is literally up to them.
Hope ur not too mad, but it just needed to be said.

I’ve just been listening to a podcast about the fabric of reality, and came on here for a bit of downtime. And lo and behold, you’re talking about reality and time passing, and that’s exactly it.
No matter what we think, no matter what we say, or theorise or claim, we don’t alter the truth, and that stands for everything that doesn’t pertain to us.l and our own lives.
I can think the earth is flat till the cows come home (I don’t, obviously) but that doesn’t alter reality.
Same goes for Jimin and JKs relationship. I’ve seen people claim wild theories, bending and stretching to reach conclusions far outweighing a k drama or blockbuster movie, whereas I personally, think mundanely and simply, that they are together.
Whose right? We don’t know.
That’s the truth. We don’t know.
We may never know, we may find out one day?.
I’m saying this with a smile on my face because that’s the beauty of life right, as long as we are not harming others, or coming into others spaces and shouting. As long as we aren’t being disrespectful to others, and to Jikooks bond.
I will say this though, an actual truth people seem to forget or quickly dismiss across the fandom as a whole, is that those men chose to enlist together and whatever we may think of their relationship that is what happened and we should do well to remember that.
Hey Anon, that's what i call serendipity.
And I love this ask, thank you!
Tumblr media
I absolutely agree, what we know - or think we know - has no impact on what truly is.
Even when we believe we know all there is to know, new discoveries and new understanding mean - hopefully - we're constantly learning and reassessing.
When it comes to Jikook, Occam's razor is my go-to: the simplest explanation is, in fact, usually the best. We don't need convoluted plots and schemes and conspiracy theories. There's enough information staring us in the face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes we need to untangle that information - I'm not saying we should accept everything on face value - and we do have to look out for new information so we can adjust our understanding.
But that is the case with everything on earth. There is no static knowledge.
These things add layers of richness and complexity but they don't change the basic premise of our underatanding.
That understanding, for me, is that these two humans love each other.
Tumblr media
As you say, there ARE things we definitely know, like their companion enlistment.
Like the fact that Jimin chose to have JK with him - next to him - when he talked about his depression on Beyond The Star.
We know Jimin flew 28 hours so he could spend 3 days with JK in NY and Connecticut.
We know that JK was ready to crack Yoongi on the head with a frypan when he though Jimin might have been hurt (by a 5g shuttlecock).
We know that JK never harms Jimin - in all the games and jokes they play, he never targets Jimin (spraying his butt with a watergun is not targeting him, before anyone gets huffy. That did Jimin no harm at all.)
We know that Jimin worried over how hard JK was working.
We know JK begged Jimin shamelessly in front of millions of people, to do a weverse live together.
We know JK watched and hyped all Jimin's footage when he was promoting FACE.
We know they jumped into the comments of one another's livestreams several times last year.
We know all these things, but imagine what we don't know.
There's so much we have no idea about.
Hours and hours of footage that never reaches our screens. Months of time they spend together or alone or with family or friends. That's as it should be - their their private lives are just that - private.
Yes, I have a lot of fun picking apart the little glimpses we get into their lives because i enjoy their dynamic so much and because I'm naturally curious (okay, yes, I'm nosy 🤣).
I look deeper not because I'm hunting for lies or flaws, but because these two delight me. Sure I speculate, but i don't purport to know what they are to each other or where their boundaries lie. And I'm happy not to know. Some things are none of my business.
Like you, Anon, I accept that i may never know the true nature of their relationship, and I'm quite okay with that.
In the end what does it matter?
Whatever they are to each other, they're happy, and honestly what more is there to life than love and happiness?
💜💛

I think people are overestimating the impact Mizu5 will have on the rest of the cast’s events. The only explanation I can think of for this is that Mizu5 is the first event a lot of the fandom has read and it is very telling…
Events don’t intertwine like how a lot of people are talking about them. No, Akito5 won’t be about Mizuki. In fact, I am almost confident she won’t even be mentioned at all. Don’t forget that Akito5 is an arc starter, this event will solely focus on the next steps for VBS after having surpassed RAD WEEKEND.
Plus, Mizuki not showing up to school isn’t new. An, Akito, and Toya will not be worrying themselves sick, if anything they’ll be thinking Damn she’ll need to do supplementary classes again… Events are not as linked as linked as some people are making them out to be.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that people are starting to read the stories, it’s great that this event caused so much of an impact that people want to talk about it and theorise what will happen next, but maybe this could also be a catalyst for people to read other events too.
You don’t have to force yourself to read events for groups you might not be as interested in, but choosing a group and reading everything they have to offer is just as good. It’ll give you a lot more to talk about regarding the game too (and perhaps it’ll stop pointless story discourse on top of that, but we can only hope).

A defence of Ace Culprit (DRDT)
I've seen some theorising that Ace will turn out to not be the culprit, which I don't agree with. To be clear, I think theorising is cool and fun regardless of whether or not I agree. It's mostly agreed upon by the fandom that Ace is the culprit at this point, so none of this is uh, exactly revolutionary, but I want to write some points as to why I think Ace will still be the culprit next Friday.
Point 1: The Witch Trials of Ace Markey
One of the key points I've heard is that Ace is treated unfairly by the cast, particularly in the trial, and that they need to be narratively punished for that. I mostly disagree with this - I think there's some truth in the fact that the cast is dismissive of Ace, treats him like a joke, etc. But I don't think they're wrong to suspect him in the trial. They only do so late on, when the evidence points to him.
Veronika said he's more likely to be a killer in terms of personality, yeah - which is true, he does make more sense as a culprit than Eden in terms of their respective personalities - but in the same breath she asks Teruko if she has any actual evidence pointing to Ace. Even she, the creepy girl obsessed with psychoanalysis, isn't willing to rely on something so flimsy. If anything, personality is brought up more strongly as a defence of Ace - that he's too stupid to pull off a mildly complex murder trick. As Charles says, "Speculation on Ace's psychological state cannot be used as concrete evidence in this trial." The case against him isn't actually based on things like that.
The reason Ace is the culprit, as expressed by the cast, is pretty simple.
1 - The culprit had to know about Nico's murder trick, which requires being present as a prerequisite. Only Ace and Eden meet this criteria.
2 - The culprit knocked out Arei by some means for the murder.
3 - Unlike Nico, the culprit did not have access to turpentine, so it's likely they didn't use any tools for this murder.
4 - The culprit has enough physical strength to knock Arei unconscious with just their body.
5 - Ace has an athletic Ultimate Talent, and Eden is small and very weak.
6 - The culprit is Ace.
There are some additional reasons to suspect Ace is the culprit. For example, the Body Discovery Announcement. For Eden to be the culprit, someone would have to be hiding the fact they discovered the body. As David points out, this isn't impossible - but frankly, it is not at all likely that anyone would do something so stupid with their life on the line. David even admits he's saying things like that to manipulate Teruko, and I'm inclined to believe him there. Eden isn't exactly cleared by this evidence, but Ace absolutely makes more sense as a primary suspect.
Sure, he talks about how it's unfair people are attacking him instead of Eden, Nico or Teruko - but it's not like people think he's the culprit for no reason! Nico has an alibi, Eden doesn't make sense as the culprit... honestly Teruko would kind of make sense but he doesn't really push that angle and Teruko didn't really need to explain to everyone exactly why only she or Ace could be the culprit when they were so close to voting for David or whatever.
Teruko has a rant about how they don't need all the evidence to point to him as the culprit, which sounds kind of bad, but here's the dialogue leading up to it.
David: If everyone is convinced, that means we vote.
Ace: Shut your damn mouth! As if I'd listen to anything you say!
Ace: If I used water jugs to weigh down Arei, where would I have stored them, huh? You still haven't answered that!
Ace: Until you can explain that, I'm still not convinced! There are still so many damn holes in your theory! I won't rest until you answer that-
Teruko: SHUT UP, ACE!
Teruko is right, here. He could have stored water jugs anywhere. I mean, it's water - much less risky to move than your average crime scene evidence. Regardless of who the culprit is, it isn't really possible to deduce something like that. And it doesn't matter that Ace 'isn't convinced' - if he's the culprit, they don't need to convince him of his own guilt, that doesn't really make sense. In fact, he is implicitly admitting guilt in this dialogue, but we'll get to that.
Now, there's definitely some truth to the fact that the cast treated Ace poorly before the trial. Nico attempted to literally murder him, Veronika told him he would die, etc. But narratively, they get called out for it this episode, and probably will get called out again next episode. After talking about the trauma he received from the murder attempt, Nico apologises to Ace. I mean, it was barely audible, but at least Nico now acknowledges their wrongdoing to Ace (rather than just the rest of the cast, which is how I interpreted their earlier dialogue about it). J, who seems to be the mouthpiece for the more moral takes in this cast, makes the point that she and everyone else treated Ace too harshly and didn't stop to think about whether he might reach his breaking point. I expect that Nico will realise their actions led to Arei's death and will hopefully develop from that. I don't think it's narratively important for them to be wrong about Ace being the culprit here, after all this buildup, just to make a point that has already been made by the cast.
Part 2: Behavioural Analysis, or why Ace is definitely guilty
Ace makes it rather clear in the most recent episode that he is the culprit, or at least he thinks he is. Look at his reaction to the headband being brought up as evidence. "Gh-" and "Fuck" are not innocent responses to this being brought up. It does not come from someone who didn't already know the slingshot was used, especially not so quickly after it was pointed out.
Before Teruko's rant, he says "I won't rest until you answer that" which pretty clearly implies that, if this is answered, he will admit his guilt. "I'm still not convinced" is also not something you say if you're an innocent man being witch hunted with flimsy evidence, frankly.
His confession is extremely believable. I've seen parallels to David's confession, but that was obviously fake. He insists that he's innocent for a little while, makes a big show of "oh, fine. fucking fine" while getting a maniacal grin on his face, and then says "I killed Arei, is that what you all wanted to hear?" It's transparently spiteful, even coming from a skilled manipulator, and there are also hints that Teruko picks up on which make it rather obvious David wouldn't be the culprit. Does anyone really believe Ace is that much better of an actor than David, who acts as an entirely different person than he actually is for a living? His motive given is believable, he starts speaking with sincerity for the first time, he looks lost, confused and somewhat sympathetic. It is a natural conclusion of Ace's arc. I'd be extremely surprised if any of that was fake at all.
Additionally, Eden - the most popular alternative culprit - starts defending Ace of all people, pointing out why she thinks he wouldn't have done it. I think there is practically zero chance Eden does this if she is the culprit and is offered a final chance of escaping after a near-death scare that caused her to break down.
Part 3: The Strangulation
The most solid physical proof people have given for Ace's innocence is that both Teruko and Arturo didn't see any injuries other than a broken neck and injured wrist. In other words, there were no obvious bruises on the corpse. Does this disprove the idea that Arei could have been strangled unconscious?
I would argue no. Ace didn't strangle Arei to death, just until she fell unconscious. Therefore, it makes sense that it wouldn't leave visible marks on the skin.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service website, "Non-fatal strangulation and non-fatal suffocation often leaves minimal or no visible injury on the victim. The absence of evidence of injury is therefore not conclusive on the question of whether there is sufficient evidence to prosecute or not." (https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/non-fatal-strangulation-or-non-fatal-suffocation)
In this case, the strangulation likely didn't leave a visible mark, and the cast wouldn't expect it to. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, and in the absence of evidence of some sort of tool being used, it makes sense to assume it was just done with the culprit's body.
Part 4: The Meta
I will start by saying the absence of a Scrum Debate is, in my view, by far the most convincing evidence that Ace might not be the culprit. Unfortunately, I can't see past all the other evidence that he did it, but I can definitely see why that would leave people suspicious. However, I do think it's possible that in this fangan, there won't be as much 'structure' to the trials and the games, for a few reasons. Unlike most Danganronpa games, the minigames were never meant to be played, and thus are more narrative devices than experiences in themselves. If there wasn't a need for a Scrum Debate, the writers/artists might not want to go to the work of creating one. The 'Select two' mechanic, which didn't feature in Chapter 1, is also evidence that the minigame mechanics may be non-standard here.
The closing argument followed by 'TRIAL CLOSED' is exactly the same thing that happened with Min in Chapter 1. In fact, the whole structure of this episode is extremely similar to that. Someone else being the culprit after all this would be an extreme rug-pull of a twist. If it was Chapter 3 or Chapter 5, I might believe it... But Chapter 2? I don't think most Danganronpa cases are extremely complex, including fangans, and that's a good thing. Cases like SDRA2 Trial 3 are special because they're so unlike other trials. If those trials became the norm, it would be seen as overly convoluted.
Speaking of which, DRDT has parallels to DR1 particularly in terms of the murder cases, right? If we look at DR1 again, the evidence against Mondo in Trial 2 was actually significantly weaker than the evidence they had against Ace in this trial. After all, they used physical evidence to conclude Ace was the killer. In DR1, the second trial ended with Mondo being convicted on two verbal slip-ups, one of which wasn't available before the trial, and no real physical evidence to conclusively deduce the culprit. So if people want to argue that there's not enough evidence for this murder case to be solved, I don't really agree. I think DRDTDev set this up fine, and was even more generous than the first canon game.
I think it's understandable people thought Eden was the culprit - I did too for a long while. She was a red herring, so she was written to be suspicious. An intentional red herring from the writer can be extremely difficult to tell apart from the writer giving evidence to the real culprit. I'm sure when she said things like "Teruko, wait!" before the BDA, that was intentionally written to make her look guilty. The 'select two culprits' mechanic all but confirmed that she was a red herring. I think her looking so suspicious made Teruko's trust scene with her all the more meaningful, though.
Conclusion
I think Ace definitely attempted murder against Arei, and definitely believes he's the killer. I also think being the culprit here would be a good conclusion for his character. There could be a small chance a mastermind interfered with the case and dealt the killing blow, but I don't think it's especially likely, and even if that is true I doubt we would find out until Chapter 6. I'm sorry, Ace stans, but I don't want there to be false hope. I'm looking forward to the bonus episodes for more content with Ace and Arei, which are both characters I enjoy a lot!

What is your opinion on the Beetlejuice 2 Dream Theory?
This theory?
My opinion is that it's very likely to be true. I walked away from the cinema extremely happy with all of the shippy moments—so happy I hadn't even considered theorising anything yet, however my first thought about the ending was, So it was all Lydia's dream?
I read through the post and was blown away by how much sense it made, but I think it helped push me to believe it when my friend sent me this
Tumblr media
My friend is not interested in theorising or shipping, and has no connection to the BJ fandom, he's just a horror fan. Yet his interpretation of the movie's ending was a summarised version of the whole dream theory. Isn't it far more romantic to imagine Lydia having spent her life with Betelgeuse, and he's indulging her with a dream of her own child? Considering they both have a 'psychic connection', I'm not convinced that Lydia hasn't been thinking about BJ just as much as he's been thinking about her.
This user pointed out both of Betelgeuse's love songs are by artists named Richard, conveniently the name of Lydia's previous partner. The same partner who was described as a horror fan that loved playing pranks, and dressed as a Beetlejuice lookalike for Halloween.
Tumblr media
Looks like Beetlejuice, acts like Beetlejuice—either Lydia is equally obsessed, or it's BJ projecting himself onto Lydia's human lover within the dream. Watching the movie with new eyes, I noticed in the "Later, fucker" scene that BJ is sitting in the same place Richard sat while working at the border control. "Astrid" herself has a name related to the celestial bodies, much like "Betelgeuse". You can either take this as a romantic parallel, or Tim is trying to show us that Richard's creation is based on Lydia's fixation with Beetlejuice.
Dream sequences often use characters to represent something within the dreamer's psyche. It's like an abstract analysis of the way that character thinks and feels. Astrid's sequence within the dream shows Lydia's material desires—it confirms everything was based off of what Lydia wanted, which included getting married to a 'monster' (in the sequence of events, Astrid marries a guy dressed as a vampire), and then gives birth to the Beetlebaby. I know in the first movie there is a reference to the horror movie "The Fly", so I imagine this was too.
Did anyone notice the dream sequence watching Astrid didn't actually have a clear indication for when it began? It transitioned from the movie as if everything was a dream right from the start.
Let's not forget BJ straight up looking into the camera and saying "I love a good dream sequence". Lol.
My other reasoning for believing the dream theory is what Winona said about Lydia. Winona and Tim are close friends. Winona pitched the idea of having Betelgeuse and Lydia be the endgame ship in her words, and she happily took part in this movie. If Tim had rejected the idea, why would Winona reprise her role for a story she didn't agree with? Winona knows that Lydia is Tim's self insert (Tim has said many times he relates the most to Lydia), so why would Tim approve of all the shippy moments if he opposed Winona's pitch? No one knows Lydia like him!
Winona said in this interview that she hadn't imagined Lydia ever becoming a mother, but that after a while it started to make sense. She does not elaborate on that, but explains her idea for Lydia was that she would end up a spinster in the attic. If you read the dream theory, it highlights how the movie begins with Lydia in the attic, and then transitions to Lydia's TV show, but the background is still the attic. I found the whole film very dreamlike in this way, and I think the fact that Tim has said Wizard of Oz (a movie where the girl wakes up after a dream, in which those she knew acted as characters within the sequence) is one of his favourite movies helps to put it into effect.
And finally...
It's Lydia Deetz. Lydia loves the strange and unusual.. do you really think she wasn't curious enough to contact Beej again?

🫶🏻 15 gentlebeard/blackbonnet fic recs
(17 if you squint)
hey legends, in this bittersweet period where a lot of a us are feeling gutted but simultaneously, rebelliously hopeful, i've emerged from my reading den to showcase to you all some of the brilliant talent we have in this fandom! these fics are some of the best of the best, and i hope you love them just as much as i do! <3
they are all complete, do not feature any ongoing steddyhands/edizzy/stizzy, and are above 20k words.
peruse part 1, part 2, and part 3 at your leisure if you want to compare our tastes/devour more fine literature, or check out my masterlist as an ao3 collection.
adrift between the dreaming seas by @dandy-pirate-time
49k, mature, locked
stede lives a cursed life on a moving island, until the monotony of his days is suddenly interrupted by the fearsome kraken.
this was such a fascinating & incredible idea! i love how it manipulates aspects of the original story and transforms them into parts of the cursed island <3 sweet & unique & magical. i want to hug poor stede.
Five Birthdays and a Funeral by @bizarrelittlemew
58k, explicit
"When Ed and Stede's friend groups merge, they meet at a birthday party, and Stede's life is turned upside-down. As they collide again and again, he not only has to figure out what Ed means to him, but what he means to himself."
stede gets to be oblivious and a bit of a silly goose as a treat. also: treasure hunts, lucius is the best, ed has a cat whom i would die for, such a sweet & heartfelt fic. you will be so unbelievably fond of this version of every character.
The Ghost of Frigate Point Lighthouse by @piratecaptainscaptainpirates
53k, explicit
"When history professor Stede Bonnet goes to investigate rumors of a ghost haunting the local lighthouse, he's thrust into a mystery centered around the ghost of one of the most famous pirates of all time."
was SO eager to read this and it did not disappoint!! it has everything - fun, magic, mystery, tired TA lucius, and a lil bit of seduction. good enough that i am worried the author may actually just be a sea witch recollecting events he personally witnessed.
Haunted by @thepirateroo
60k, explicit
"The Kraken is a famous spiritualist, working the music halls of 1920s London to help families communicate with their dead. But Stede Bonnet knows that underneath the fame and illustrious title, Edward Teach works as a ghost hunter, debunking the spirits he makes his living off."
this is, genuinely, in the top 5 fanfics i have read for any fandom EVER. i wouldn't bat an eyelid if i read this exact work as a published novel in a bookstore. the mystery is so good and had me guessing and re-theorising constantly, the characterisation is brilliant, and the emotions are perfect. i cried, i laughed, i felt sick with worry for the characters, and i couldn't stop reading until i was done.
haunt me, then by @hyruling
28k, explicit
"He releases the ropes slowly, barely registering the burn as they slip through his fingers. Then, fallible as Orpheus, turns to meet his ghost."
post s1 fixit fics ily. everyone needs some therapy. really VERY well written and a joy to read.
Homeward Bound by mari_who
51k, explicit
"In the long-ago year 2000, bouncy blonde boy-band member Stede Bonnet is 17-year-old Edward Teach's gay awakening. Decades later, Ed hears a voice he could never forget."
i said 'ohhh no poor ed/stede' so many times while reading this. a lovely exploration of emotion and human connection, and finding yourself when everyone else has always defined who you are on your behalf.
I just need some air by @cuddlytogas
26k, teen
"Stede Bonnet's been having panic attacks for almost as long as he can remember, suffocated by pressure and expectation... When [he] finally takes his life back — divorces Mary, moves to Melbourne, starts his own event management business — things get better, but he's still no good at parties. He still needs some air, even at the very events he's brought to fruition. Meanwhile, Edward Teach, renowned chef and owner of Blackbeard's Catering, is wondering why the newest bigwig in events still hasn't hired him."
zoomed through this faster than lightning mcqueen. such a lovely writing of stede, ed and the whole crew - it feels like there's depth in every character, even background ocs.
also fantastic australia rep (i was jumpscared by mention of the cotton on group) AND i've been to the bar the final scene takes place at!!!! most exciting reading experience of my life.
i'll be your treasure by @monksofthescrew
48k, mature
"Wasn't the Dread Pirate Blackbeard rumored to have a hoard hidden somewhere near Essex? It's a metal detecting AU. They're detectorists. They fall in love."
i LOVE this fic so much it is just,,,, so sweet. stede does self-discovery and is seduced. ed is a bit of a goose and i'm obsessed with him. doug and mary are lovely. alma is so cool and i love her.
+ the sequel! drift o'er the rolling hills, swim through the briny sea (made me cry. btw. doug keeps being the best.)
The Kraken's Sacrifice by @trinityofone
22k, explicit
"Every year, a person is chosen—supposedly at random—to be sacrificed to the Kraken, to quell the sea's worst storms and to stop the taking of ships... Stede discovers that there is much more to the creature than he was led to believe—and that they have a deeper connection than he could have ever dreamed."
i LOVED this okay. it was funny and sweet and gave an interesting spin to the ed-is-the-kraken genre. get both of these boys some self-esteem asap. also comes with art by @avatoh!!!!!
lovers in a dangerous time by @veeagainsttheday
52k, explicit
pacific rim au - "Edward Teach becomes a jaeger pilot, first with Izzy Hands and later with Stede Bonnet. It’s not easy trying to save the world and falling in love with your drift partner…"
made me feel every emotion under the sun, including foaming at the mouth jealous that i don't have a drift partner. absolutely, masterfully written. i've popped this link first since its the fic that focuses on stede & ed, but it was written as a prequel for:
+ catagory five: a shatterdome romance by @owlinaminor (27k, mature), which focuses predominantly on jim & oluwande, and which i also massively recommend reading (first). it's told through lucius' words and made up of journalistic notes and transcriptions, and its really terribly clever. i knew nothing about pacific rim before this, and now i'm really very invested. if i wrote something this fantastic (& creative & wildly unique) i would never shut up about it.
More of the Gravy Basket than of the Grave by @veeagainsttheday
36k, explicit
"Ed and Stede’s ‘unorthodox friendship’ ended four months ago when Stede left Ed without a word after Ed asked him to run away to a parallel universe with him. They’re thrown back together when they’re summoned to perform a supernatural exorcism at the Hillside Hotel during a blizzard."
this has got to be one of the coolest and most creative fics i have ever had the pleasure of reading. genuinely kept me guessing and so so intrigued, PLUS the most sweet stede & ed dynamic!!!
Nothing Missing in My Life by @semisweetshadow
63k, explicit, locked
"Hollywood action star Ed Teach is bored with his celebrity life. Everything changes when he meets Stede, a sweet extra working on the set of his latest film shoot. Stede doesn't know who Ed really is and treats him like a real person and Ed can't help wanting to keep him."
ed plays an action hero called jeff the accountant, and if that's not immediately the greatest synopsis ever idk how else to win you over. hilarious, clever, & so heartfelt. i gasped and said 'oh no' with a hand over my heart nearly as many times as i laughed out loud.
not pickles by smallestchurch
84k, explicit
"Ed's minding his business when the new neighbor's kid comes around holding a human puppet. It's creepy as hell, but as soon as the kid's father rounds the corner, Ed doesn't mind."
i actually feel a bit ill when i think about this fic because i love it so overwhelmingly. there's family, and healing, and good food and friends, and ed teach and louis bonnet become the dynamic duo they always had the potential to be.
Our Fangs Mean Death by @flawedamythyst
87k, teen, locked
"Master Vampire Blackbeard's afterlife is enlivened by the arrival of a new coven in town, lead by the self-styled Gentleman Vampire. Now here's a Master who doesn't mind shaking things up by wearing clothes 300 years out of date, buying a massive gothic mansion for a lair, and leading the most eclectic coven Blackbeard has ever seen."
ridiculously fun. this is the vampire novel/fic i didn't know i needed and i loved every silly second. stede really gets to fulfil his dad-ness. i'm furious i can't join the gentleman vampires coven irl, will just need to embrace the gothic vampire aesthetic in my own life.
Wayfaring by @justkeeptrekkin
35k, explicit
"The downside to being stuck on a desert island is that Stede's not awfully good at adapting. The upside is that he and Ed can finally have some peace and quiet– that is, if Ed ever wakes up from the gunshot wound in his stomach."
the sweetest desert island fic, feat. the cutest piglet in the world, a little bit of pining, a helpful skeleton named dusty, and some of the best & most accurately written stede and ed content ever (imo).

Tumblr media
First, let's just get this out of the way for I'm still seething about the storytelling mess that was Familiar By Thy Side (and parts of Darkest Hour). I want to appreciate the fact that this masterpiece of an episode is more than 10 minutes shorter than the previous one, which had so many unnecessary parts; this half hour of an emotional roller coaster ride has done so much more to progress the ENTIRE show's plot. We finally pieced the puzzle of Lilia's kookiness and her "jumps". We got so much more Teen lore from this than the Teen episode itself. We now have resolution to all the (previous) trials, Alice's… state, Rio's real identity, Jen's importance… We even dealt with the damned Salem Seven as a bonus. So many things happened but it was not overwhelming at all. If this were a suit I'd say it's bespoke indeed.
Now, what I truly loved about this episode is how it was able to paint a non-linear narrative with so much finesse, with each twist and turn taking us to different parts of a single timeline, without making it nauseating, all while pulling the threads to secure the stitches in place and make sure the seams are tight without it puckering. Like embroidery that adds patterns on different areas, we finally sew it all up to see the final tapestry.
Tumblr media
The whole fandom has definitely theorised all about how Lilia's weird "inserts" are connected, each episode giving us more pieces to make sense of. But of course it feels infinitely better seeing it ourselves, and how they make up a whole linear timeline in Lilia's mind-POV, while Agatha and the gang are left confused with the breadcrumbs of phrases left for them at different intervals. I absolutely loved how this time discrepancy was used. No more boring-ass unnecessary flashbacks filled with drivel. This time, the past is completely enmeshed with the present, and is used to decide on what's needed to be done to get the desirable future outcome.
This "time is non-linear, it exists simultaneously at all points" phenomenon has certainly been used in countless other media (Fringe and its Observers come to mind), but I love how actively Lilia used it. Her being in that tea-leaf reading lesson held so much significance to her as a Trial Subject, as a Coven Member, and as an Individual Witch. Her time in the gazebo reminds me of The Time Traveller's Wife; existing in all the times, getting sent and pulled back and sent again.
Tumblr media
That gazebo was both her prison and her escape. Being stuck in that place made her think her life is a rigid series of unfortunate events, and she can't do anything but be helpless in the face of tragedies that befall everyone she ever cares about. Having had the power to see the future yet be unable to prevent her original coven's death perpetuated her self-depreciation, thus she spent 450-ish years giving in to the usual witchy tropes and misconceptions (the palm reading and tarot tents and the minor scams here and there, but a girl's got bills, ya know), even if it hurts her in the process.
So then, prison AND escape, right? Being tethered to that specific point in time, with her mentor guiding her path to self-rediscovery, was crucial to Lilia's ability to escape her shackles, because she needed to realise she put the shackles on herself. Having a powerful but dangerous gift and being actively afraid of it is quite the self-fulfilling prophecy of doom. You're scared so you stop using it altogether but then you can't control it so all that suppression does more harm than good (looking at you, Charles. What you did to Jean was cowardice. Also, hello? Elsa??). Lilia exclaiming "I was bad at tea leaves" at her literal first day of training might just have been the reason why she spent her life believing she's bad at it. She planted the very idea in her brain (Inception? lol).
Tumblr media
This whole forward and back travel from the Road to the Gazebo is instrumental to Lilia coming to terms with the idea that time for her does not move in a straight line. Her confession to Jen, paired with her mentor's wise words, makes her admit that she does, in fact, have a problem. First step to recovery and all that. This then leads to her unravelling the next layer of her issues, which is death to all she holds dear. Granted, she has seen so much death within her lifetime. 450 years of life would do that to you. Something she cannot possibly control.
But that's the thing, isn't it? She was never supposed to control anything. Her job as a Trial Subject, a Coven Member, and an Individual Witch is to SEE. See the trial with the eyes of 450 years simultaneously happening, the heart of someone who wants to protect her coven, and the power of a witch who can walk through the threads of time's tapestry. Once she sees that, and once she accepts that Death is not a Bad Thing, and once she lets go of control, the pieces started to fall into place.
Tumblr media
Which then makes her SEE that she's the Traveller. This tarot reading is about her, and she has been sprinkling the answers throughout her timeline, waiting to be plucked by the Awakened Calderu of Now. Give credence to who she is, and her power that Must Not Be Feared. Recognition that she needs her Coven in order to succeed. Acceptance for what she has lost along the way. Welcoming the path ahead no matter where it leads her. Embracing heartbreak, sorrow, and grief. Undertaking miraculous transformation. And finally, the beginning of the end, the end of the beginning.
Tumblr media
How fitting is it that we see the start and realise it was actually the end? The fall, initially thought as something dangerous, was in fact just part of the journey. Death, once feared, now embraced like an old friend. Something that perpetuates the cycle. The past, shrouded in darkness, now illuminating the path ahead.
So now we see, she wasn't actually falling. If you ask me, she was flying. Flying to that gazebo in a garden somewhere in Sicily, 450 years ago, about to start her very first lesson in reading tea leaves. Her mentor saying, "Let us begin", and her ultimately saying, "I loved being a witch".

ABC and baiting and whatever...
I’ve seen this be talked about in here in the last couple of days but it’s so glaringly obvious that this is a lot of people’s first fandom. Like I get that it's frustrating to think something will be in the episode and then you find out it got cut, but that's how TV works. Every second counts, if part of what you filmed doesn't significantly contribute to the episode then it gets cut. It's normal. Shit happens.
Do I think ABC purposefully used the buddie scenes as promo because they knew it would bring in clicks and engagement? Yes. Is that kinda shitty? Sure, but it's not a crime. This fandom has been putting ABC on a pedestal ever since the move and listen, I agree they've been better than Fox, but they're still every bit of a money hungry corporation. They'll promote whatever keeps people talking and whatever brings in viewers.
They haven't been allowing buddie questions in interviews as some sort of omen that buddie canon is coming soon. They've been allowing it because it'll keep the online fandom talking, (let's be real, those are the only people taking the time to read interviews, not the general audience). And of course the reporters eat it up, because they also know it'll get them clicks.
I'll also say it's not the show's fault, or even ABC to be honest, if people saw a couple seconds of buddie at the bachelor party and decided to expand on that and theorise that it could lead to a kiss, or them realising they had feelings for each other or whatever else. Theorising can be fun as long as you know there's a 90% chance your theories will only ever be theories and will never make it to canon. But acting like the show owes you something, or that a fanon ship will most definitely become canon, will only ever be a set up for disappointment.
I do wonder if they'll switch up their marketing strategies from now on though. I don't think a couple hundred, or even thousand people yelling at them over instagram comments is that significant or too much of a concern, but I do think it would be wise of them to tone it down with the buddie talk in interviews if they don't intend on following through with it. Maybe take more of a Fox approach in that regard, reel Oliver and Ryan back into PR jail and whatnot. At the end of the day I feel like they got what they wanted, which was for people to follow the show from Fox to ABC so they'll probably chill with the press anyway going into next season.
Just to make it clear, I'm not telling anyone how to feel, just that shit like this happens all the time. It's important to always manage your expectations and, once again, maybe not get so caught up in speculations.

How's it gloing?
I haven't spent much time on here recently, so I thought I'd check in with you guys! I don't tend to speak about my personal life online, because I don't really want to. However, I've received a few messages that seem easier to answer with a little (long) update.
In short, if you ever want to know how I'm doing, simply check how long it's been since my last update to Over the Threshold! We're currently approaching three months between chapters so ✨ yeah ✨
Tumblr media
Work got Very Bad™ to the point that I had to take time off with stress. They hired a consultant to help me with my "ADHD specific struggles", only for the consultant to turn around and say "yeah, the issue isn't with the employee, no one can do all that". wbk.
Employers are at least trying to take appropriate action but the transition period is rough. I fully burnt out, so easing back into my responsibilities without getting frustrated and self-conscious about how little I can now manage each day is hard. Of course, mum has been undergoing cancer treatment throughout all of this too. Though the worst is (hopefully) behind us now, it's been rough, pals!
I'm doing my best with Over the Threshold, but that story is a different beast. I try to follow the inspiration wherever it takes me, because I've never found forcing it to be helpful, but I really want to move forwards with this fic now! I'm determined to make some significant progress once chapter 12 (the biggest problem chapter yet) is out of the way, so wish me luck!
It also hasn't helped that my special interest series came to an end rather unexpectedly during this time. As embarrassing as it feels to admit it, I've spent quite a bit of time grieving the end of JJK. I found my feet in the fandom here on Tumblr, and I'm sad knowing it'll never be the same space now it's over. Without the yapping and theorising and nerding out, I'm not sure how to make use of this place really, but while BlueSky seems promising, I miss Tumblr a lot. I really want to spend more time here again, so I think it's time to dust off the old queue. Reckon I've got stuff from last December sitting in there!
I know I've left a lot of people hanging in this time, and I'm genuinely sorry for that. However, I've been preserving every last drop of energy for the thing that gives me most joy: writing. My fics have brought many wonderful friendships my way, and I'll never stop being grateful for that, but trying to keep on top of all the different things demanding my attention is a huge part of the reason I burnt out.
At the end of the day, I'm here to create first and foremost, and I have to prioritise that for my own wellbeing. I really hope you understand ♥️
Okay, enough of that! Let's end on something less serious! A lot of the content I used to create here is no longer viable or appealing, so aside from unwanted yapping about my own writing, I'm not sure what to post about! Is there anything you'd like to see from me on Tumblr specifically? And last but certainly not least, how are you?
A reminder that my asks are always open — love you guys!

911 8x08 thoughts and freak outs!
Okay…
Well…
WOW…
OMG!!!
What do I say about this episode? 😶
Uhm…
Well, my first reaction was this: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! 🤣🤣🤣
And I mean this in a very good way! 😏
I’m just going to start with the thing that made me go AAAAAH! In the first place:
Eddie and Chris! That scene was heartbreaking and when Brad talked to ‘Edmundo’ about his estranged son it was a great moment. Eddie has started to realise he has to act NOW, because he son is growing up without him and he doesn’t want that gap to become any wider. 😭
Side-note: Fuck the Diaz parents big time! They suck! 😠
So Eddie decides to move to Texas, which is so very much the wrong thing to do. But I get why he’s considering it. The right thing to do for him would be to go to Texas, talk to Chris and telling him he needs to come home, back to LA. But I don’t think Eddie is ready for that yet. He’ll need some time to get there, but he’ll get there in the end.
Which leads me to that one scene with Buck. And OMG! In the seven years that I’ve been here, shipping Buddie, I’ve seen a lot scenes between them that suggested something more, but it was never really anything concrete… you know? 🤷‍♀️
This scene? It was like being hit over the head with a sledgehammer. Buck just walks into Eddie’s house and Eddie’s okay with that. He’s teasing him about the tablet and Eddie lets him. They know each other through and through. And Buck’s face when Eddie told him it was in El Paso? That was interesting. And of course he wants to help Eddie. It almost feels like they’re buying a house together for a moment there. But then…
Then when Buck’s sitting on the Diaz couch (yes… hello couch theory, great to see you again! 😂), his face falls and there is something there that wasn’t there before. Guys… we just witnessed the very early beginnings of Buck’s ‘OH’ moment. Eddie making plans to move will help Buck realise just how much he truly cares for Eddie. 🥲🥲🥲
So, this is it. This is THAT scene we’ve all been hoping for.
I feel unwell.
In a good way.
The Buddie-arc has officially begun. 😋🌈😁☀️
So unwell right now.
Still in a good way.
But oh… this is going to be such a good hiatus! That scene alone will inspire so many writers to write excellent fic, it will fuel us for months and ignite the fandom to speculate and theorise. It’ll be epic! 😎
I wonder if there’ll actually be a time-jump or they’ll just pick up where they left off after hiatus. 🤔
On to the rest of the episode:
Where was the Maddie storyline they talked about?
Athena’s storyline was actually nice this time. It is entirely possible that something flew over my head when it comes to her scenes as a police officer. But to my non-American eyes, it was a nice storyline. The cart cop kid was a little naive, but he was likeable I suppose. I don’t really enjoy watching people like that on YouTube, but for the show it was okay.
I unexpectedly really enjoyed the Brad storyline. Granted, him rescuing that woman and risking hurting her? That was iffy, but 911 is like HotShots in that respect, you know? We aren’t supposed to take it all ‘that’ seriously. So I can live with that scene. I love the growth in Brad and how he talked that guy from the ledge. Do we think that scene was based on the fact that Jon Bon Jovi talked someone from the ledge a couple of months ago? I think that’s where Tim got his inspiration for this.
So overall, I really enjoyed this episode and I have to admit that I didn’t really expect too much of it. But it managed to surprise me in a few ways. But mostly that Buddie-moment… it just blew my mind. 🤯
I can happily skip into hiatus now. All is right with my fictional TV-show world again.

I'm off to read the post interviews now and answer some asks in my inbox. YAY!
